The Look

Our units blend a casual, almost rustic aesthetic with contemporary design ideas. Small imperfections are characteristic of each piece and give our kitchens a timeless character - in other words, it’s normal for our manufacturing processes to sometimes feature small quirks but never at the expense of quality.

Units are constructed using solid Pine but we do also use Supawood in key structural areas. Instead of flat painting we apply special finishing techniques to create distinctive appearances unique to each range.

The concept of having individual pieces of furniture instead of a traditional permanently fitted kitchen has many advantages, as you are not restricted to one look that you feel compelled to endure for the next 20 years. Our concept offers a flexible layout and means that your kitchen can change and grow with your family, home and budget over time.

You can also choose units to closely match the décor in the rest of your house.

The Cost

Milestone Kitchens’ prices are especially competitive - which means you are not going to get million dollar quality at million dollar prices. But this is why our customers choose us in the first place!

Our kitchens fit perfectly between DIY pine kitchens and costly professional installations. This means that you have to do some of the work yourself.

With South African labour costs on the increase and skilled artisans in short supply, it’s becoming more cost effective for homeowners to upgrade their kitchens themselves. Our free-standing concept makes this process easy and to help we’ve made available some printable and editable Kitchen Planners that you can request using our Enquiry Form.

In the past, the life span of a kitchen has been over 20 years but it’s now becoming more commonplace to change either your whole kitchen or just alter parts of it much sooner, perhaps in as little as 5 years. This is because it’s much more affordable to replace your kitchen if you buy it at retail level and install it yourself (or, if that’s beyond your home improvement comfort level, employ a fitter to do it).

If you had to compare quality for quality (we do not use cheap melamine or chipboard) you will likely find that you’re paying about half of what you normally would for a fitted solid wood kitchen. You simply cannot beat our value for money when it comes to solid wood kitchens. We challenge you to do the homework, get other quotes and compare.

With us you can buy one piece at a time and build on modularly as your budget allows. You save on consultation, installation and (if you are able to organise your own) delivery fees. We estimate this almost halves the cost of your new kitchen.

D.I.Y.

Our kitchens are based on the “do-it-yourself” concept. You plan, install and organise the delivery of your kitchen yourself and thereby save on consultation, installation fees and delivery. We’re absolutely willing to help, where we can, with regards to advice and planning, but actual fitment is up to you.

Buying a DIY kitchen and installing it yourself is becoming increasingly popular.  More people are adding value to their homes by buying free standing kitchen cabinets at retail level and setting them up themselves. You could of course hire a professional fitter to do the job - in which case the cost should still be a fraction of most kitchen suppliers, as the units are already built. Basic plumbing and electrical work may need to be done to complete the installation.

The advantage of this is the cost saving to yourself. The floor units are placed where you want them and then a plumber would fit the pipes for the sink and an electrician would install the electrical wires for the power and a gas technician would would install the stove if you opt for a gas one. The wall units are simply hung on the wall in much the same way a shelf would be using rawl bolts or anchor nails.

Use our downloadable Kitchen Planners to start doing it yourself!

No Showroom

Milestone Kitchens supplies kitchen units online, directly to the customer, at wholesale prices. We do not have a showroom or consultants in KZN, or in any other province in South Africa, or in any country in Southern Africa or the whole world for that matter. The only way you can buy a Milestone Kitchen is directly from us, online, through our website. This saves us overhead costs and then we as a company are able to pass the savings on to you, our client.

We feel strongly about keeping our prices as low as possible so that we can supply beautiful stylish kitchens at reasonable rates. And we plan to keep it this way. In certain cases we’re happy to have clients visit us at our factory, but this needs to be pre-arranged.

Be aware of Milestone Copy Cats. There are quite a few companies that copy Milestone Kitchen designs and use our photographs on their website, brochures and social media pages. That's totally fine with us. We take it as a compliment. But make sure that you buy a Milestone Original if you are interested in quality, value for money and good service.

Tops

Contrary to what some expensive, glossy home magazines might have you believe, you don’t really need meters and meters of a continuous granite surface to prepare a meal. Have a look at our Pinterest page to get ideas of what is possible. We offer stylish solid wood tops in Pine, Saligna or Ash to suit your budget, but you may also order the units without tops and have stone tops fitted on site. You can choose any tops you like and they don't have to be all the same. We also offer Stainless Steel tops.

Versatile

Milestone kitchen units are very versatile because you are not locked into one kitchen and forced to endure its look for the next 20 years.

The units can be used in any room of the house.

In the case of an emergency such as a leak or a fire it is easy to access behind and underneath the units as they are not stuck to the walls.

If you move home you can take your kitchen with you (Remember to leave our web address in the empty kitchen!).

It's Hygenic

Dust bunnies beware! Our kitchens are hygienically friendly because the units can be moved for cleaning behind and underneath.

It's Hygenic

Dust bunnies beware! Our kitchens are hygienically friendly because the units can be moved for cleaning behind and underneath.

Let's face it, sometimes a rat or even a cockroach (heaven forbid) will get into your kitchen. In a fitted kitchen these vermin make cosy little homes inside the cupboard linings. Not so with Milestone Units, there isn't anywhere for them to hide!
