How does Milestone Kitchens look after the environment?
At Milestone Kitchens, we care about the environment and make every effort to ensure that we produce our products following environmental practices that reduce our carbon footprint. Below are some of the practices we have in place to protect our environment.
Renewable Energy
Our factory is powered by 32 x 450W solar panels.
Conscious Buying
- Our pine is FSC approved and sourced from local sawmills with a 100km radius.
- Our Ash is also sourced from FSC approved forests.
- All other raw materials are locally sourced from suppliers within a 100km radius.
- Water-based glues and paints are also used in the making of our units as they are better for the environment.
Waste Management
We reduce and manage our waste in the following ways:
- We recycle
We use the sawdust resulting from production in local stables instead of burning it. - Our wood offcuts are used to produce Milestone Smalls, which is our range of hand-made, eco-friendly, wooden kitchen accessories.
- The remaining scrap wood goes to the staff for their home fires.
Smart Hire
We strive to employ locals for all our staff, making our transport footprint small as 90% of our factory staff live within less than 2 kilometres of the factory and can walk to work.
