How to look after your Milestone Kitchen?
Polishing your kitchen with successive applications of wax polish is advisable because it gives a layer of protection against moisture, oily deposits, scratches and cracks. Polishing helps to clean away dirt and surface smudges. Polish can also soften and blend in any marks over time and give your kitchen a soft natural glow. The degree to which you polish your kitchen is a personal choice but we advise that the units are polished once every three to six months. We recommend ordinary Cobra Wax Polish or any solvent-based, pure and uncoloured wax polish. Apply a coat of white wax to small areas at a time and polish with a dry clean cloth until it shines.
In some cases, especially in hot and humid conditions, the resin does tend to bleed a bit which will look like a yellowish smudge on the unit. If this happens you can correct this by painting successive layers of paint over the bleed until it disappears. Use the touch up paint that we have provided for you. You might have to do this a few times.
Removing drawers and adjusting hinges
In transit it sometimes happens that with the movement of the vehicle the screws in the hinges and runners can work loose and cause the doors and drawers to stick or to move out of alignment. To re-align the door you need to fiddle with the adjustment screw in the middle of the hinge. This is the screw that moves the door up and down. The screw on the outside of the hinge (the one that is closest to the outside of the door) moves the door forward and back. You’ll have to play with this until you get it right. You will need a Phillips (star) screw driver. Adjusting the runners can be tricky. There are little plastic levers in the slides that you need to lift before inserting or removing the runner. One lifts one way and the other the opposite way (push it down or up). Check that there is nothing in the way of the ball bearings that causes it to stick or to prevent it from closing. If the runners are sticking you could try oiling the runners or cleaning them if they have gotten dusty or gritty. Check that your unit is level. If it is not, the drawers might roll forward.
